Elske Free Bernt, Volunteer Services Manager

Elske comes to HSB as a career community builder and project manager with a 20 year history in hospitality in Santa Barbara and Monterey Counties.  A mother of three, she believes that community is good medicine for just about any ailment of the heart and is proud to join the compassionate and dedicated team at HSB. A native of the east coast, Elske earned a B.F.A. from Carnegie Mellon University where she focused on storytelling through performance art and filmmaking. An oil painter, poet and songwriter, Elske believes in the healing powers of creative expression and the beautiful spectrum of forms that can take. In addition to creating art, gardening and practicing yoga in her personal time, she is learning to be a steers-woman with the Santa Barbara Outrigger Canoe Club and is a regular attendee of local song circles.
